Teaser Tuesday: Little (Grrl) Lost by Charles de Lint

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teasers:

“I don’t think it would be like that. I think it’d be more like they’d put you in a terrarium in a laboratory to study you. And everybody’d be tearing up their baseboards looking for more of you.” She paused for a moment before adding, “Do you have, like, a house back there?”

I used to love books about the Littles and the Borrowers as a kid. I love that one of my favourite authors has moved the myth into modern times and that the Little in question is a punkish girl. His punkish girls are always my favourite characters LOL

It's been a while since I read a Charles de Lint book. I think part of the reason for that is my library has only got random books out of the series. Very annoying.

Marg, that is the best thing about Charles de Lint. It isn't so much a series, but a collection of tales set in and around Newford, a generic North American city. Some of the characters have interweaving stories, but it isn't really chronological. I think the only ones that I would not read straight away are the ones solely about Jilly. She gets a few books in the last decade. I'd steer clear of those and read whatever else you can get your hands on. I would steer clear of The Onion Girl, Dreams Underfoot, Promises to Keep & Widdershins, but read the others :) I have never read his books chronologically. I've mostly bought them second hand or through the library. It has only been recently that I have been able to buy them on demand.
