Teaser Tuesday: I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teasers:

His teeth grated together and a burst of rage filled him as he saw the station wagon lying on its side and saw them smashing the windshield with bricks and stones, tearing open the hood and smashing at the engine with insane club strokes, denting the frame with their frenzied blows. As he watched, fury poured though him like a current of hot acid and half-formed curses sounded in his throat while his hands clamped into great white fists at his sides.

This sounds and looks quite frightening. My TT: http://www.rundpinne.com/2011/02/teaser-tuesday-indefensible.html

LOL it is about being the last person alive when the world has been over run by vampires. It was written in the 50s and I am always fascinated by the evolution of mythology in literature. Slightly different than the "misunderstood, highly shagable, urbane" vampire of urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

This book has been on my TBR list ever since I saw the movie (with Will Smith) as I understand the book is quite a bit better. Great Tease!!

I haven't seen the Will Smith movie yet. I decided I should probably wait till after I have read the book. Apparently, as well as the Will Smith movie, there is "The Last Man on Earth" (with Vincent Price!) and "The Omega Man" (with Charlton Heston), so when I finish the book, I think it will be time for a movie night :) Apparently the movies distance themselves from the vampire hoard and bring on elements of the zombie apocalypse mythos.

Would be interesting to read to compare to the current crop of vampires!

Here is my teaser for this week.

I really liked I Am Legend. I liked the reason Dr. Neville was considered a legend better in the book than in the movie. Although I did like the movie very much. Books are always better though.

I am about half way through the audiobook, definitely better than the movie.
